Simon River Sports

Simon River Sports is the outcome of a family which shares a longtime passion for paddling. The founder and chief designer of SRS is Lou Lukanovich, who, along with his daughter Karen, and Steve King bring to SRS over 100 years of combined paddling experience which includes participation in 7 Olympic games as members of the Canadian Canoe & Kayak Sprint Team.

Lou's engineering background in high technology, and decades of sprint racing and coaching, led him to consider design improvements which could be made to existing kayak touring and racing equipment. Many experiments and 2 patents later, Lou says of Simon River Sports, "Today, our innovations in touring and racing equipment design are geared to enhancing the enjoyment of the sport and include providing the paddler with the quickest and easiest ways of adjusting his/her equipment according to size, level of expertise, conditions and personal taste."

Located in the heart of the Laurentian mountains north of Montreal, in lake and river country, the Simon River Sports team is constantly promoting the joys of the sport wherever they go, as Karen Lukanovich reflects "your desire may be for a quiet nature experience, wild adventure or hard core racing, paddling can provide all that and anything in between.
